Anhinga - When I wish upon a star....

I came across a beautiful Anhinga yesterday and it really spoke to me - I hope that you will enjoy this as much as I did.

Cedar Waxwing - a Photo Shoot

I present to you today - my dream bird, now a reality.
The Cedar Waxwing.

She went down by the water edge and got her belly wet.

Dreams can come true - this I believe.

Across Collier County with the Caloosa Bird Club

Wow and more Wow! Yesterday was an awesome day. We left Sanibel before 6a.m. and returned by 5p.m. - a bit of driving was involved and OH so very much worth it. Our first stop was at 10,000 Island Marsh Trail.
Our mascot - the Green Heron.

Beautiful short trail with just enough to wet our appetite for more bird action. http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S17187003

Our next stop - Fakahatchee Strand Preserve. I learned something new today (surprise!) a swamp is water that sits still and a strand is moving water among trees....The Bald Cypress love these conditions.

A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

A Barred Owl who cooks for youuuuuuu.

Stan sharing his photo captures.

A pair of Eagle chicks - parents not too far from the nest were seen too.

A Wood Stork

A great spot - I definitely would return to this location. http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S17186996

Our next stop - Kerby Storter Park.

Someone identified it as a Water Moccasin.

A juvenile Little Blue.

A juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron - the pale lower mandible makes it easier to distinguished from the young Yellow-crowned Night Heron.

Air plants were everywhere - this area is also home to the very rare Ghost Orchid.

A Pine Warbler - clean looking bird with its two white wing bars.

A female Bluebird (LB#214) was spotted by our picnic tables right after we had lunch and were counting our species so far. http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S17186993

A few miles down the road was "Monument Camp". The Purple Martins were seen exchanging notes.

And a Swallow-tailed Kite too!

Shimmery feathers - very pretty.

Perhaps trying to negotiate rent space.

No deal, he said....just come and visit and no squatting allowed.

Then we spotted a Great White! Wow....can this day get any better than that?
